One considerable advantage of music studio software is that it is just as rewarding for the novice as for the expert. At this point the producer typically must have access to an external USB interface. These devices help manage power (i.e. for active mics) and allow patch and mic cords to be connected to a computer. It is also important when using these programs that the sound card and the computer’s memory are up to the task, as running multiple music files simultaneously, combined with the program’s storage of previous actions, can take up a considerable amount of a machine’s resources – and especially if used on laptop.
